Making clean paper not that.
Letterpress has been one of the most challenging ways to explore design. Using minimal imagery and relying on layout and type to create a finished product has taught me how to think in an analog way where corrections feel more like surgery than hitting the backspace.
This was a letterpress printed 42 line bible page of Genesis chapter one. It is printed in Latin using 18pt Stymie on a Vandercook press in two separate lock-ups. The verses are hand stamped in red which is the only form of punctuation used besides the hyphens. I based the layout off the original Gutenberg bible but had to establish my own set of rules for hyphenations and leading. I was really happy with the way it turned out and I was even happier to get all this type put away after the final print.

One of the best movie quotes ever written was originally from Chuck Palahniuk’s book Fight Club.
The irony of using alcohol to cowboy up was too funny not to print this wood type print on a repurposed cocktail book from Goodwill.
